Black Mage
Black Mage is the most humorous job in my opinion (Galka Dancer in harness I find more disturbing than humourous), seeing a Tarutaru do /panic emotes while casting an AM2, then running for his life until: 1) Tank somehow gets hate back, 2) Monster dies, 3) Black Mage dies! This is also the least boring Mage Job (Blue isn't technically a Mage). Black Mages are able to accomplish great things in groups, and many events that would normally be extremely hard in normal party setup become sickenly easy in a Manaburn party. Having a Black Mage as one of your jobs opens alot of doors for you, allowing you to participate in events you normally wouldn't be invited for.
There are a few subs used for Black Mage, the most popular is Red Mage. This gives fast cast, which helps out with many of the long cast spells (in conjunction with Loquacioius Earring, Rostrum Pumps it process spells at 60% of cast). When Red Mages not leveled White Mage is a good substitution. Summoner is also good for the extra bit of MP pool and refresh, though it is only for cases you know you arn't neaded for aux. cure.
I rarely use Black Mage. I use Summoner for most of the mage preferred fights like Kirin and KS99s. When having many other jobs Black Mage just doesn't have as many applications.
